Synopsis

This trail to Delhi’s better known forts, the Old Fort or Purana Qila, a 16th century royal citadel and one of the capital cities of Delhi, is a chance for you to explore the grand monuments of the Mughal and the Sur Dynasties such as Bada Darwaza, Humayun Darwaza, Sher Mandal, Qila-e-Kohna Masjid and Talaqi Darwaza. Other interesting monuments include a Baoli and a bathhouse. This complex has many legends and architectural details attached to it. A walk through this complex with well laid garden and trees with structures dotted everywhere is a unique experience.

Just like the fort across the road, its neighborhood has many monuments scattered everywhere. This walk is a good mix of secular and religious buildings with interesting stories from the past. One of the fascinating places of Delhi; it actually shows you the perfect mix of old and new. After the walk, you can always visit the crafts museum and its very famous café. Perfect way to spend the day!
